A Night with the Stars, a showcase piece for the Johannesburg Youth Orchestra Company and Born To Perform (a platform created by Creative Directors, Gemma Marinus Donnelly and Matthew Marinus to create professional opportunities in the Performing Arts Industry for talented children and teens) took place at the UJ Arts Centre on 27th and 28th May 2016.
The collaboration celebrated the talented youth of South Africa and featured budding performers from a variety of genres. It was also the producing and directing debut for award-winning composer and arranger Bryan Schimmel. "Welcome to Tomorrow" was the catch phrase used to introduce some of Gearhouse Group's latest technology to 600 of the organisation's top clients and suppliers. The launch was housed in the inaugural build of the Maxi Dome Lite Venue, a bespoke temporary structure designed and built in South Africa by Gearhouse In2Structures, the Group's specialist design and manufacturing company.
One of the selling points of the In2Structures Dome Venues is their ability to transform any stretch of land into an event space within 4 to 5 days and this build was a prime example. Digital design agency INJOZI, approached Gearhouse Group with an unusual concept for their Consol Glass campaign for Grey Advertising Johannesburg. The brief was to create a projection surface using the client's product, in this case glass bottles, to be used as a backdrop for a variety of performance scenarios.

The 2016 South African Music Awards (SAMAs), one of the highest profile events on the SA music calendar, was again staged at the Durban ICC Arena, broadcast live on SABC1 and enjoyed by an audience of 3000. For the first time, lighting was designed by Robert Grobler … who incorporated over 200 Robe fixtures on the rig which was supplied by Gearhouse South Africa.
