This month we are featuring Assistant Chaleko. He is 29 years of age and was born in a small-town called Lichtenburg just outside Mafikeng in North West. Engaged to a lovely woman named Nthabiseng with a baby boy who is 2 years and 3 months old; Assistant spends his spare time passing time with his friends and family over a nice glass of wine or listening to old music. With a love for reaching out to the disadvantaged he tries to give back to the community where he can, which is an inspiration to his colleagues at times.

He completed his sound engineering diploma at Sound of Sounds Institution in Braamfontein, and thereafter was offered an internship at Highveld Stereo 94.7, but decided to broaden his horizons and enter the field of live events instead. This change led him to join C and S Audio in Cape Town as an audio technician, and then Sound and Light City, in Cape Town, as a sales executive. He subsequently moved back to Johannesburg to join Sound and Light City in Midrand; also as sales executive.

Assistant decided to join Gearhouse because he felt - based on his experience - that he could fit into the culture of the organisation. Not only did he see potential to grow but also felt that he could be an asset to the company, bringing what he had learnt to the organisation and building a solid foundation whilst growing his knowledge and learning more about the company’s processes.

In his position as a sales executive at Gearhouse SA' s JHB branch, Assistant is looking forward to career growth and increasing his knowledge and experience within the industry.

Being part of Gearhouse has taught him a great deal and most of all, has opened his eyes to all the industry offerings, learning that working hard and smart pays off. He puts himself in the shoes of others and seeing things from their perspective, enables him to move forward and work with others in a positive manner, because “With teamwork you go a lot further”.
