SARA announced that LETPC has been given the 'green light' to return for three years

Following the success of its inaugural event, LETPC (Live Event Technical and Production Conference returned for a two-and-a-half day event spanning 12th - 14th May at the Sunnyside Park Hotel in Parktown, Johannesburg. LETPC 2016, sponsored by Gearhouse Group SA, Beautiful Creations and the Department of Arts and Culture, and initiated by SARA (South African Roadies Association), continued to highlight the necessity of technical and production training within the live events sector.

The main aim was for us to move forward on the outlined LETPC 2015 outcomes,’ explained SARA president Freddie Nyathela. The 2016 edition, as Mr Nyathela noted, looked to ‘follow-through with the implementation of the first SA Backstage Academy, focus on increasing the skills qualification level to NQF5, to set-up the skills need analysis and to bring transformation to the sector.’

Having been given the go ahead to run for the next three years, LETPC 2016 welcomed back last year’s speakers, John Botham from Semperior, Dr Adrian Brooks from Backstage Academy and Blackmotion’s Kagiso Moima. In addition Falco Zanini from VPLT, Julius Grafton of CX Network, Jim Digby from Event Safety Alliance, Tony Kgoroge from CCIFSA and Gearhouse’s Quintus Myburgh were on the list of international and local speakers for this year’s event.
