An event where people and brands raise their creative potential

Prominent South African technical and event equipment supplier Gearhouse, a partner to the preeminent trade show, Mediatech, has confirmed its intention to again align itself with the biennial event for the sixth consecutive year. A robust partnership that has been in place since 2007, Gearhouse adds significant value to the three day media and entertainment technology trade show that attracts over 7,500 visitors - and this year will be no different.

While Gearhouse’ rental companies do not exhibit directly at the show, as the technical sponsor the Group offers significant discounts to exhibitors on rigging and other high value equipment and this, says Mediatech exhibition director Simon Robinson, is of enormous value to the industry.

Gearhouse offers a 50% discount on all rigging points for exhibitors to assist with their show costs. More than this, as the technical sponsor, the group invests many resources into the technical aspects of the exhibition, ensuring seamless integration and the kind of high-tech delivery expected with a show of this nature.

“We are delighted that Gearhouse has again seen the value in supporting our tradeshow – an event that has increased in stature and has evolved into something quite unique. It’s about making the impossible possible,” says Robinson. “Not just a show about the products available in six verticals, Mediatech is about innovation and bringing ideas to life using the latest tech, and Gearhouse recognised this at the outset and has grown with us on our journey of discovery.”

Along with the Gearhouse renewal of its sponsorship, many of the local and global brands who are loyal to the show have again signed up for the 2017 event; the vast majority have supported the show since its inception. Showcasing close on 800 brands from 150 odd global and local exhibitor companies, Robinson believes the return of these companies to the expo is a good indicator of the show’s reputation and a great endorsement of the merits it has to offer.

Commenting on the investment, Gearhouse National Marketing Mmanager Robyn D’Alessandro says, “For Gearhouse as a group, it is an opportunity to support our industry in growing awareness around the South African offering and capabilities. Of course, it’s not entirely altruistic; we are also able to showcase our own capabilities throughout our eight different companies.”

From the portable venue (Midi Dome from In2Structures) used as the registration venue, to the latest LED products (from LEDVision), the Lighting, Audio Visual and Audio in the Coffee Bar, and its set building finishes for the Presentation Zones (Sets, Drapes, Screens), Gearhouse is represented in many of the show’s most evident touchpoints.

“We may not be selling the technology but we can ably demonstrate what can be done with it,” says D’Alessandro. “It’s also a fantastic opportunity to catch up with our own suppliers and clients together in one space over a short period of time.”

An exceptionally useful business platform for its particular services, the Gearhouse Group’s distribution and integration company, System Solutions, does exhibit at Mediatech and will again be part of the showcase in 2017.

“Our Gearhouse Kentse Mpahlwa Academy students visit the exhibition en masse, where they are exposed to and educated about the latest technology and most of our staff body make time to attend. For me personally, it’s a chance to re-establish connections and engage with media and other stakeholders important to our group. It’s an exhibition Gearhouse looks forward to and one that is growing more exciting every time we see it and we are proud to continue our exciting sponsorship of this leading trade event,” D’Alessandro concludes.

The 2017 event will run from 19 – 21 July at the Ticketpro Dome in Johannesburg, South Africa.
